We started training in June for this gruelling journey! We've lost a skeg (used to row in a straight line), but so far have avoided further damage to the shell.

The journey begins on September 8, 2007 in Buffalo at the newly constructed Frank Lloyd Wright Boathouse. We chose a west to east route because the wind is known to blow in that direction - and we need all the help we can get. A wine tasting event is being planned at Utica's newly opened Canal Front restaurant. Other events will probably take place along the way. Check your local news and events calendars for related events in your area. We'll also try to post them as we get closer to launch.

We'll be launching around 7am, and traveling at about 7-8 mph on average. This map traces our route, but for more detailed maps of the stops and locks along the way, go to http://www.nyscanals.gov/maps/index.html .
